Tabs on the appointment screen

3 min readFor clinical staff

Every appointment keeps its own row of tabs, right under the header, so you can jump between the transcript, the note, and anything else you create — documents, filled forms, AfterCare summaries, dictations — without leaving the appointment.

What's in the row

The tabs always appear in the same order:

  1. Transcript — always first.
  2. One tab for each note, document, filled form, AfterCare summary, or dictation, in the order you created them.
  3. + Create — always last.

What each kind of tab shows

Transcript shows the appointment's words as they come in — live while you're charting, and as the finished record once the appointment ends.

A note tab keeps the note beside the chart, with a draggable divider between them so you can widen whichever side you're working in.

  • Only one note is live at a time. Its tab carries a small gold pen.
  • A note you've finished — for example, by starting a second note partway through the appointment — shows a green check instead.

Document, form, and AfterCare summary tabs fill the whole width of the screen, since there's no chart involved. Each one carries its own actions for finishing and exporting that piece of paperwork.

Adding something new: + Create

+ Create sits at the far end of the tab row and opens as a menu, not a new page.

At the top, Suggested for this appointment shows up to three proposals based on what's been said so far:

  • a note template that matches the conversation
  • a document or form whose trigger phrases came up

These are only suggestions — Rebrief never creates anything on its own. Each suggestion is a row; you click it to open that tab.

Below the suggestions:

  • Note ▸ / Document ▸ / Form ▸ — each opens your template library for that kind: a search box, Your favourites, Your clinic's templates, Rebrief's templates, See all, and Manage templates.
  • New dictation — opens a blank dictation pad.
  • New template — starts a new template from scratch.

Tip: Pressing End appointment opens + Create once, so nothing gets forgotten before you move on. If you'd rather it didn't, there's a switch for that at the bottom of the menu.

Closing a tab vs. removing it

The × on a document, form, summary, or dictation tab closes it from the row — it doesn't delete anything.

Note: To actually delete what's behind a tab, use the menu in that tab's own corner and choose to remove it.

Getting around with the keyboard

Arrow keys walk you along the tab strip, including out to + Create at the end.

On your phone

The same tabs show up in the mobile appointment workspace, in the same order. + Create opens as a sheet from the bottom instead of a dropdown.

Taking a tab's contents elsewhere

A note tab has its own Export ▾ button on its bar for copying or downloading that note. Every other tab — document, form, summary, dictation — has its own Copy and PDF buttons for getting its contents out of Rebrief. See the Copy & PDF article for what each format includes.
